About the carrier

Singapore Airlines is the airline most often named the best in the world, and it flies nonstop from London to its Changi hub four times a day. At the top sit the A380 Suites — fully enclosed first-class cabins with a double bed — alongside First Class on the 777-300ER. Its long-haul Business, the much-admired 2013 seat, is now being replaced by a brand-new suite-style Business with sliding doors, which began arriving in 2026 and is among the first things you'll see on the London A350; an all-new First Class for the ultra-long-range fleet follows in 2027. Which cabin you fly depends on the aircraft and the day, and that is what we pin down before you book.

Less heralded but possibly more important is the new Business cabin on the A350-900 ULR fleet — operated only on the SIN-EWR and SIN-JFK non-stops, the longest commercial flights in the world. The seat is exclusive to those aircraft: 28 inches wide, two configurations of double-bed convertibility, and a separate ottoman that doubles as a guest seat. In our view it is the best long-haul Business product flying today.

Six per A380, the closest cabin product to a private hotel room. Sliding door, separate armchair, separate bed with proper sheets, double bed for couples. The only product on this list with a turn-down service.

The Private Room (SIN)

Suites-only lounge at Changi T3 — small, quiet, à la carte dining including the Singapore Sling done properly. Closer to a members' club than a lounge.

A350-900 ULR Business

The Singapore non-stop Business cabin — exclusive product, 28-inch wide seat, the most spacious commercial Business product in regular operation. Worth flying the route specifically.

Crew consistency

Singapore Girls (and the male equivalent) train at a dedicated academy for sixteen weeks before flying. Service is rigorous, scripted, exceptional — and never feels staged.

Singapore is the benchmark a great many airlines are measured against — the Suites, the catering and the service are as good as flying gets, and the new doored Business closes the one gap rivals had opened. Against Cathay Pacific and ANA it is a question of which hub suits your onward plans; the consistency and the food are Singapore's own.
