About the carrier

Qantas has flown the Kangaroo Route between the UK and Australia since 1947, and today offers two ways to do it from London: nonstop to Perth on the Boeing 787 — one of the world's longest flights — and via Singapore on the A380, which carries Qantas's First Class. The A380 First and the fully flat Business Suite are the cabins to seek out today. From late 2027, Project Sunrise changes the map again, with new A350s flying nonstop from Sydney and Melbourne to London — among the longest flights in the world — carrying an all-new First Class and a Business suite with a door. Which cabin you fly depends on the aircraft and the routing, and that is what we plan around you.

Business Suite on the 787-9 is the current flagship — 1-2-1, lie-flat, sliding privacy doors on selected centre pairs. First Class survives only on the A380 fleet (fourteen seats per aircraft) and operates on a limited set of routes (LAX, DFW, SIN, HKG seasonally). The A350-1000ULR for Project Sunrise will introduce a brand-new First Class (six suites with sliding doors, separate seat and bed) — and a new Business Suite Plus.

Currently the fastest London-Sydney route — Perth stop is 60 minutes only. 787-9 Business Suite both legs. The route most Australian-bound clients fly today.

Australian domestic onward

From SYD / MEL / BNE / PER, Qantas operates one of the world's most extensive domestic networks. Through-fares from LHR onward make Australian itineraries seamless.

For Australia, Qantas is the name with the history and the network — the A380 still carries a genuine First Class, the Perth nonstop is a feat in itself, and Project Sunrise will soon make Sydney–London one of the world's longest flights. Against Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific, who fly you via their Asian hubs, Qantas offers the nonstop to Perth and the one-stop via Singapore; against British Airways on the Kangaroo Route, it is the more Australian experience. The catch is that the new First and doored Business are a 2027 story, and First today is A380-only — so the value is in routing you onto the right aircraft. Today, First Class flies on the A380, which serves London to Sydney and Melbourne via Singapore. The Perth nonstop is a Boeing 787 and doesn't carry First.
