About the carrier

Lufthansa flies from Germany's two Star Alliance hubs, Frankfurt and Munich, and is the home of Allegris — the most ambitious cabin the airline has ever built. Allegris Business is a staggered, all-aisle-access cabin of sliding-door suites, with a choice of seat types from a private front-row Suite to an extra-long bed; Allegris First is a cabin of just three enclosed suites, the centre one a private room for two. It flies today on Lufthansa's newest aircraft — the Allegris A350 from Munich, which carries the new First, and the Allegris 787 from Frankfurt, Business only — while much of the rest of the long-haul fleet still flies the older 2-2-2 Business. Which aircraft operates your flight decides which cabin you get, and that is precisely what we confirm before you book.

Allegris — the long-awaited cabin refresh — is the in-flight story. Rolling out from late 2024 across the A350-900, A350-1000 (incoming) and 777-9 (incoming) fleet, Allegris introduces seven distinct seat options: First Suite Plus (a closed suite with double bed), First Class (open enclosed cabin), Business Suite (doored), Business Suite Plus (extra-long), and several Business variants. The previous generation — 2-2-2 yin-yang Business on the 747-8 and 777-300ER — is still in service and being phased.

01

First Class Terminal Frankfurt

Separate building. Private check-in. Chauffeur drive to the aircraft in a Mercedes S-Class or Porsche. The best ground experience in Europe, by some margin.

02

Allegris roll-out

First Suite Plus, First Class, Business Suite, Business Suite Plus — Allegris finally delivers a premium cabin to compete with Asian carriers. Rolling A350 fleet first.

03

Star Alliance connectivity

Through-fares with United, Air Canada, Singapore, ANA, Swiss, Austrian. FRA / MUC particularly strong for African, Eastern European and Iranian destinations.

04

Munich Lounge

First Class Lounge MUC is the smaller sibling to FCT FRA — same private check-in, chauffeured drive, smaller à la carte restaurant. A genuine alternative to flying via FRA.

Against the US carriers, Lufthansa's Allegris Business Suite is the more advanced seat — sliding-door privacy, all-aisle access — and Lufthansa keeps a true First Class, which most do not. Its sister carrier SWISS flies the same concept as SWISS Senses, and within Star Alliance it connects seamlessly with United. The one catch is the rollout: Allegris is on the newest aircraft only, so the value of a desk is making sure your long-haul leg is an Allegris jet rather than an older one. Tell us your route and dates and we'll route you onto the new cabin where it flies.

The take

Our honest read on Lufthansa

Where Lufthansa’s new cabin and ground game shine, and the details worth a call before you book.

Why we rate them
  • Allegris is one of the most ambitious cabins in the sky Sliding-door Business suites with multiple seat types to choose from, and a new First with three enclosed suites — including a centre “Suite Plus” double. Where it flies, it’s outstanding.
  • The Frankfurt First Class Terminal is unmatched A separate terminal, private security, a personal assistant and a chauffeur to the aircraft — for First passengers, nothing else in aviation compares on the ground.
  • Two strong hubs and Europe’s deepest network Frankfurt and Munich put almost anywhere in Europe, the Middle East and beyond a single connection away.
  • You choose your seat type in Allegris Business From extra-privacy suites to extra-long beds — a level of choice no other carrier offers in Business.
Good to know
  • Most of the fleet is still the old 2-2-2 Business Allegris flies today on roughly ten A350s and a growing number of 787s — the rest of the long-haul fleet has the older seat, no aisle access from the window. The aircraft flying your date is everything, and we confirm it.
  • The new First is Munich-based for now The Allegris First flies the Munich A350s; the Frankfurt 787s carry Business only. We’ll route you to where First actually flies.
  • The A380’s new Business isn’t Allegris It’s a different (good) seat — worth knowing if you’re comparing. We’ll tell you exactly what’s on your aircraft.
  • UK travel is via Frankfurt or Munich Lufthansa connects you through its hubs rather than flying nonstop long-haul from the UK — we’ll build the cleanest routing.

Before you ask

Questions we're asked about Lufthansa.

What is Allegris, and is it on every Lufthansa flight?

Allegris is Lufthansa's new cabin: a Business of sliding-door suites with all-aisle access and a choice of seat types, and a First Class of three enclosed suites. It is not yet on every flight — today it flies on the newest A350s (from Munich, with the new First) and 787s (from Frankfurt, Business only), while much of the fleet still has the older seat. We confirm your long-haul aircraft and route you onto an Allegris jet where it operates.

Which Lufthansa flights have the new Allegris First Class?

The new First — three private suites, the centre one a room for two — flies on the Allegris A350s based in Munich, on routes such as San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Mumbai and Bengaluru, with more as the fleet grows. The Allegris 787 from Frankfurt has the new Business but no First. If First is what you want, tell us and we'll find a Munich A350 service that has it.

There seem to be lots of Allegris Business seats — which should I pick?

That is rather the point of Allegris: one cabin, several seat types — a front-row Suite with a sliding door, single window suites, a double suite for two, plus Extra Space, Privacy and Extra-Long-Bed seats. Some carry a selection fee. Tell us whether you want privacy, a companion seat or the longest bed and we'll book the right one for you.

Can I fly Allegris direct from the UK?

The Allegris cabins fly on Lufthansa's long-haul aircraft from Frankfurt and Munich, so from the UK you connect through one of the hubs. The short hop from the UK is in Lufthansa's European Business; the Allegris experience is the long-haul leg. We build the connection so the long-haul flight is an Allegris jet.

How much is Lufthansa Allegris Business from the UK?

Indicatively from £X,XXX return on the contracted trade fares we hold, including the connection from the UK. Tell us your dates and the exact figure follows the same hour.

Is Lufthansa in an alliance?

Yes — Lufthansa is the anchor of Star Alliance, alongside SWISS, Austrian, United, Singapore Airlines and more, so connections and lounge access work across the whole network — including the Frankfurt First Class Terminal for First passengers.
