About the carrier

Air France flies from its Paris–Charles de Gaulle hub, and its flagship is La Première: a four-suite First Class — each place with a seat and a separate chaise longue — that is among the most exclusive in the sky, and the gateway to the celebrated La Première lounge at CDG. It flies on a subfleet of refitted Boeing 777-300ERs; those same aircraft, with the newest A350s, now carry Air France's new Business Class — reverse-herringbone suites with sliding doors and direct aisle access — while older aircraft still fly the previous cabin. From the UK you connect through Paris, and the cabin you fly depends on the aircraft: we confirm it before you book.

The new Business Class on the 777 — introduced 2022 — finally brought Air France into the modern doored-Business era. Sliding privacy doors, dual screens, a generous seat with a real footrest, and a meaningfully better bed than the previous full-flat herringbone. Premium Economy is also strong (one of the early entries in the segment). The legacy 1-2-1 herringbone Business remains on some 787s pending refit.

Four suites per 777-300ER, flown on a small number of routes (LAX, SFO, JFK, GRU, NRT, HND). Dedicated immigration channel at CDG; private chauffeured limousine on the tarmac. Restaurant menu by Alain Ducasse.

A separate boutique-scale lounge inside Terminal 2E — private rooms, à la carte from a Ducasse-curated menu, Cinq Mondes spa with full treatments. The only First-only lounge in Europe of comparable intimacy.

The 2022-onward Business — sliding doors, 1-2-1, much improved over the legacy herringbone. Rolling across the A350 and 777 fleet through 2026.

Air France remains the strongest European carrier into Francophone Africa — Dakar, Abidjan, Brazzaville, Libreville, Antananarivo. Through-fares with Kenya Airways and SkyTeam.

Air France's case is French luxury done seriously: La Première is one of very few true First Classes left, the CDG lounge is a destination in itself, and the new doored Business now matches the best in the air. Against British Airways it is a more exclusive First and the Paris ground experience; across the Atlantic it partners closely with Virgin Atlantic. Can I fly La Première or the new Business direct from the UK?

They fly on Air France's long-haul aircraft from Paris-CDG, so from the UK you connect through Paris. The short hop is in Air France's short-haul Business; the flagship cabins are the long-haul leg, and we build the connection around the right aircraft.

What is the La Première lounge like?

It is one of the most exclusive airport spaces in the world: a private CDG lounge with à la carte dining, Champagne and Clarins treatments, reserved for La Première passengers, with a dedicated car transfer to the aircraft. We'll make sure your connection leaves time to enjoy it.
