Notes from the office

The stop is the decision. We help you make it well.

There is no non-stop London–Sydney. Every itinerary involves a connection, and the connection is what we plan. Singapore via Changi is the most efficient — the world's best airport, and SQ on both sectors. Dubai via Emirates is the most comfortable — A380 on both legs, and the option for an overnight stop.

Qantas Business on the 787 is strong and the natural choice for clients who want to arrive on an Australian carrier.

For most clients travelling in Business or First, we recommend an overnight stop in Singapore or Dubai rather than a same-day connection. The difference in arrival condition is meaningful.

On the ground

Sydney Airport: straightforward and well-connected.

Sydney Kingsford Smith (SYD) is 20 minutes by train to Central Station. The Qantas First Lounge in Sydney is exceptional; the Business Lounge, strong. Emirates' lounge in SYD is reliably good.

We arrange transfers from SYD into the city or onward to the hotel as part of the booking.

Domestic connections to Melbourne, Brisbane, the Gold Coast or Cairns are arranged on the same booking through Qantas or Virgin Australia.

When to book · when to go

The seasons are upside down.

Dec–Feb

Australian summer · peak

Warmest weather, overlaps UK Christmas, sells out first. Book 4–6 months ahead for the strongest premium availability.

Mar–May

Australian autumn · best value

Mild weather, smaller crowds, and the strongest negotiated fares of the year. The single sweet spot we recommend.

Jun–Aug

Quieter winter, Vivid & whales

Cool but bright; Vivid Sydney lights up the city in May–June, and humpback whales pass along the coast.

Sep–Nov

Spring shoulder

Warming up, blooming, good premium availability before the December rush. 2–4 months is usually enough lead time.

Route FAQ

Five quick straight answers.

Are there nonstop flights from London to Sydney?

Not yet. Every current premium fare is one-stop via Asia or the Middle East — around 22–23 hours total. Qantas plans a nonstop service on the A350 ULR (Project Sunrise) expected from 2027. We will update this page when it goes on sale.

How long does the journey take?

Roughly 22 to 23 hours including transit, depending on airline and hub. Doha and Dubai routings are usually the shortest total time; Singapore and Hong Kong add a little but offer the strongest transit experiences.

Which cabin is worth it on this route?

On a journey this long, Business class — lie-flat bed, lounge access at every airport, priority throughout — is the obvious value sweet spot. First class adds privacy, space, and elevated dining for those who want the cabin to be part of the holiday.

How far ahead should I book?

Four to six months for Australian-summer travel; two to four months is usually enough in shoulder seasons. We hold a small allocation on most carriers and can sometimes find premium space inside the published booking window.

Is my booking protected?

Yes. Every flight booked through us is ATOL protected under the Civil Aviation Authority scheme (ATOL 12118). The number appears on your confirmation, and your fare is held in trust until your trip is complete.

Letters we keep

In the words of clients who've stayed.

I haven't booked a flight myself in four years. They know which seat I want on the A380, that I prefer to land before midday, and the hotel that runs a quiet floor. I phone, they call back, and it's done.

Our directors travel constantly and finance need everything reconciled. Travelin Business is the only piece of the operation no one complains about. VAT-ready, on time, and quietly cheaper than what we were paying.
